West McLean County – The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that weather permitting; work is scheduled to begin May 26, 2015 for safety improvements on Illinois 9 from the intersection of Illinois 122 to the intersection of US 150 west of Normal.
This project includes complete removal of the existing shoulder, placement of a new 4 foot safety shoulder and rumble strips to warn drivers of lane departures. Guardrial upgrade and associated earthwork will also be completed on Illinois 9.
The contractor for this $1 million project is Rowe Construction Co. The estimated completion date is August 6, 2015, weather permitting.
