BLOOMINGTON – A candidate for Illinois’ 18th Congressional District is running on a pro-veteran platform.
Rob Mellon, a history teacher from Quincy who spent time in the Army and National Guard, says he has a plan to help veterans.
“It’s in a couple of different layers. The first one is more direct support to veterans and the second part of the plan is the reformation of the VA system that’s been in the news recently,” Mellon told WJBC’s Terry James. “We know the issues the VA system has had, so some of the direct support I’m pushing for is a jobs plan.”
Mellon says tax incentives given to businesses for hiring veterans should be expanded.
Mellon is running against Adam Lopez of Springfield in the Democratic Primary on July 7.
