Livingston County FFA members shine at state convention

SPRINGFIELD – Two Livingston County FFA members were elected to the Illinois Association FFA major state officer team at the group’s annual state convention in Springfield this week.

Kolton Kimpling of Streator is the new State FFA Reporter. Kimpling is a member of the Woodland FFA Chapter. Pontiac FFA member Jordan Johns is the newly elected State FFA Treasurer. Rounding out this year’s officer team are: President Kade Hill (Paxton-Buckley-Loda FFA), Vice President Connor Carmody (Calhoun County FFA) and Secretary Susie Thompson (Central Burlington FFA).

The Pontiac FFA Chapter was recognized as the top chapter in the state, receiving the Illinois Banker’s Plaque at the convention on Thursday.

Other top awards went to four STARS Over Illinois: Star Farmer Lacey Knodle (Nokomis FFA), Star in Agribusiness Ben Curtin (Taylorville FFA), Star in Agricultural Placement Alex Diekmann (Breese Central FFA) and Star in AgriScience Brooke Shafer (Clifton Central FFA).

More than 17,500 students are enrolled in 326 different FFA chapters across the state of Illinois. The Illinois Association FFA is part of the National FFA Organization, formerly known as Future Farmers of America.
