Dixie L. England, 73, of Bloomington, passed away at 1:20 p.m., June 28, at her home.

A celebration of Dixie’s life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at Carmody-Flynn funeral home, Bloomington with Rev. Mickey Fuson officiating. The family requests casual attire. There will be no visitation. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Mount Hope-Funks Grove Fire Protection District, 209 S. Hamilton, McLean, Ill. 61754.

Dixie was born Nov. 18, 1941 in Bloomington, the daughter of Charles E. and Dorothy P. Brantley Grammer. She married James England on Dec. 22, 1978 in Shirley. He died on Feb. 5, 1995.

She is survived by two sons, Kenneth W. (Joy) England of McLean and Jamie (Christy) England of Cooksville, four grandchildren, Kaylee Sue England, Dylan Ruestman, Justin McCallister and Taylor McCallister; and a brother, Larry (Bonnie) Grammer of Bloomington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Judith Grammer, a brother, Richard “Ricky” Grammer and a daughter-in-law, Tammy England.

Dixie graduated from Stanford High School and was a bookkeeper for the Dixie Truck Stop in McLean. She was a member of West Twin Grove Church and enjoyed scrapbooking.

Dixie’s family was the light of her life.

 

Riley Mowery

Riley Lee Mowery, 29, Fairbury, died at 2:20 p.m. June 26 at his residence, Fairbury.

A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury with Pastor Steve Anderson officiating. Inurnment will take place in Avoca Twp. Cemetery, Fairbury at a later date.

Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday also at the memorial home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Riley Mowery Memorial Fund.

Riley was born March 4, 1986 in Champaign, the son of David Jon and Shirley McCarty Mowery Sr.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley, Fairbury, two sisters, Angela J. (Josh) Schroeder, Sasha Hack, both of Fairbury, two brothers, Jason D. Mowery, Fairbury, David Jon Mowery Jr., Pana, Ill., nieces and nephews, Dillon Mowery, Destyni Mowery, Lyric Mowery, Gadge Hack, Alexa Schroeder, Marki Schroeder and Kolee Schroeder.

He is preceded in death by his father.
