Jamie Garcia is set to make his second return from the disabled list this season as the St. Louis Cardinals continue their home series against the Cincinnati Reds tonight.

Garcia pitched five innings of no-hit baseball for the Peoria Chiefs during a rehab start last week. It was his first appearance since being sidelined since late June with a strained groin.

He will be opposed by Reds’ righthander Mike Leake (8-5).

Mike Shannon and John Rooney will call the game at 6:20 p.m. on WJBC 1230 AM and the Cardinals Radio Network. Sportstalk with Tim Lewis will be on at 6 on WJBC and the WJBC app.

The Normal CornBelters come off an off-day to begin a nine-game road trip. The Belters visit the Traverse City Beach Bums. Greg Halbleib will call the action starting at 5:50 p.m. on WJBC.com.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
