Alvin Simmons, 59, of Bloomington, passed away at 7:50 p.m. on Aug. 9 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
His funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at Loving Missionary Baptist Church in Bloomington with Rev. William Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the start of service at the church on Friday. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Bloomington. Memorials may be made to the family.
Alvin was born on Nov. 10, 1955 in Chicago, a son of Hubert and Ora Lee Griffin Simmons.
Surviving are five brothers, Willie James (Juliet) Simmons, Herbert (Juanita) Simmons, David (Charr) Simmons, Edward Lamont Simmons and Alvin Beal, all of Bloomington; two sisters, Laverne Simmons and Annette Simmons, both of Milwaukee, Wis.; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hubert and Ora Lee and a sister, Annie Mae.
Alvin was a member of Loving Missionary Baptist Church.
He will be missed by his family and friends.
