BLOOMINGTON – U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis, R-Taylorville, is keeping an eye on the race for president next year.

Davis told WJBC’s Scott Laughlin that current front-runner for the Republican nomination, Donald Trump, should be taken seriously.

“I think Trump may have reached his max but you can’t count him out,” Davis said. “The guy’s continuing to garner support even after some pretty controversial comments that I would say he needs to apologize for.”

Davis didn’t elaborate on which comments specifically Trump should apologize for.

Davis said he thinks there’s four serious contenders for president on the Republican side: Trump, Jeb Bush, Scott Walker and Marco Rubio. He didn’t say who he would endorse.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
