NEW ORLEANS – Former Central Catholic and University of Illinois standout Michael Hoomanawanui is a Saint once again.

The New England Patriots have traded Hoomanawanui to the New Orleans Saints in exchange for defensive lineman Akiem Hicks.

Hoomanawanui won a Super Bowl ring with the Patriots last season, playing heavily while star tight end Rob Gronkowski was injured.

Hoomanawanui was a fifth-round draft choice of the St. Louis Rams in 2010. He signed with the Patriots shortly after his release from the Rams in 2012. He made 32 starts in three seasons with New England. He played in the first two games this season with no receptions.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
