Bloomington runs over Manual

By Greg Halbleib

Bloomington High School broke through after a close first quarter and captured its first win of the 2015 football season with a 69-20 victory over Manual on Saturday afternoon at Peoria Stadium.

Telly Arrington rushed 18 times for 250 yards and three touchdowns to lead the victorious Purple Raiders, who compiled 490 yards of total offense.

“I thought the kids executed well,” said Raiders coach Rigo Schmelzer. “We were able to get to the outside first and then run off tackle. Lots of kids played and I’m happy for that, and I’m happy we got that W.”

Manual remains winless in six starts.

Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
