Marilyn Ruth Moody, 61, of Bloomington passed away at 5:37 a.m. on Oct. 8 at her residence.
A celebration service and private internment will be at a later date. Cremation services provided by Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the multiple sclerosis society.
Marilyn was born Jan. 31, 1954 in Harlingen, Texas the daughter of Jerome and Ruth Gnagy Downing. She married Rev. John “Jack” Moody on Dec. 26, 1976 in DeKalb. He survives.
Also surviving are four children, Laura (Travis) Claver, Danvers, Lisa(Ryan) Wetzel, Normal, Linda Moody, Bloomington, Michael (Emily) Moody, Bloomington; three grandchildren, Ethan and Evelyn Claver, Danvers, Luke Wetzel, Normal; two brothers, Joseph (Diana) Downing, Pendleton, Ind., David (Yvonne) Downing,Tonica, Ill.; one sister, Dona Downing, Bloomington.
She is preceded in death by her parents and one niece.
Marilyn graduated from Illinois State University in 1976 with a degree in Education. She taught Special Education for El Paso, Fairbury and Bloomington District 87 school districts. Marilyn was a member of Grace Church, Normal. Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother.
