piercedonnDonn C. Pierce, 76, of Bloomington, passed away at 2:05 p.m., Sunday, October 11, 2015 at Martin Health Center in Bloomington.

His Celebration of Life Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 15, 2015 at Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomington with Rev. Vaughn Hoffman officiating. Interment will be in Park Hill Mausoleum, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 14 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Wesley United Methodist Church or Illinois CancerCare Foundation.

Donn was born March 16, 1939 in Pontiac, the son of Cyril M. and Dorothea Saxe Pierce. He married Sandra K. Sanders on April 2, 1958 in El Paso, IL. Sandy preceded him in death on December 24, 2003.

Survivors include a daughter, Kim (Dale) Nelson of Bloomington; a son-in-law, Tim Scheuermann of Normal; five grandchildren, Andrea (Ben) Marquardt of Bloomington, Emily (Jeremy) Bradley of Bloomington, Kaci (Tyler Hampton) Green of Peoria, Abby Green of Peoria and Taylor Scheuermann of Champaign; and three great grandchildren, Cameron, Lucy and Rory Bradley.

He was also preceded in death by a son Kirk Pierce, a daughter, Susan Scheuermann and a grandson, Peyton Scheuermann.

Donn attended Illinois Wesleyan University. He began his career as a linesman for GTE and retired from Verizon as Vice President of Corporate Affairs.

Donn was an active member of his community. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, was a Bloomington City Councilman and was a past president of the District 87 School Board. Donn also served on many philanthropic organizations throughout the years.

He was an all state basketball player at Pontiac Township High School and his love of sports continued throughout his life.

Donn loved Jesus, fishing in Northern Wisconsin and his family. He will be dearly missed by many.
