Fellheimer announces candidacy for circuit judge

BLOOMINGTON – 11th Judicial Circuit Associate Judge Mark Fellheimer announced Monday he’s running for election as a circuit judge.

Fellheimer is looking to fill a vacancy which will be created by the upcoming retirement of Circuit Judge Charles Reynard. Fellheimer told the crowd gathered at the McLean County Law and Justice Center he believes he has the qualities necessary for the position.

“I believe that I have made the tough decisions that judges make in court rooms on a daily basis for over the past seven years,” he said.

Fellheimer said the judicial system is facing many challenges right now.

“The judicial system needs to be proactive and be looking down the road, rather than be reactive as it has typically done in the past,” Fellheimer said.

Fellheimer has presided over 130 jury trials and over 5-thousand contested trials in cases ranging from traffic tickets to murder, and small claims to civil litigation. Additionally, he received a 100 percent approval rating from the Illinois State Bar Association this year – the highest rating of any judge in the circuit, which includes Ford, McLean, Livingston, Woodford, and Logan counties.
