ISU, IWU, high school football dominate WJBC Saturday

Game Day with Adam Studzinski kicks off sports coverage today at noon on WJBC 1230 AM.

That will be followed by Illinois State’s road game at South Dakota State in Missouri Valley Conference football action. Pregame coverage is at 1 p.m. with the kickoff at 2 p.m.

ISU, ranked No. 2 nationally, has won seven straight for a 7-1 overall record, while South Dakota State is 6-2 overall. The Redbirds lead the Valley with a 5-0 record, while South Dakota State is ranked 11th nationally and has a 3-2 conference mark.

Also, on your computer or smartphone at wjbc.com, Illinois Wesleyan’s football team concludes the home portion of its regular season when it meets College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin leader Wheaton at 1 p.m at Tucci Stadium. The Titans, ranked 22nd nationally, are 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the conference. Wheaton is ranked fourth nationally with an 8-0 overall mark and a 5-0 league record.

Also, second round high school football playoff games involving Normal Community and Central Catholic can be heard on wjbc.com starting at 12:45 p.m. NCHS (9-1) entertains  Maine South (8-2), while Central Catholic, winner of nine straight for a 9-1 record plays at Paxton against 9-1 PBL.

Meanwhile, the ISU volleyball team plays host to Loyola at 7 p.m. in a key Valley contest. That match is on wjbc.com as well.
