NCHS, BHS win girls basketball Intercity Tournament games Friday

NORMAL – Normal Community rallied from a 12 point deficit at halftime to defeat Central Catholic 54-50 Friday in the 37th Annual Girls Intercity Basketball Tournament at Normal West.

NCHS (1-1) trailed 28-16 at halftime but outscored Central Catholic (2-1) 38 to 22 in the second half. Kendall Sosa had 11 points for the Iron while Summer Stoewer added 9. Sarah Brady led CCHS with 13 points.

In the second game Friday night, Bloomington blew out Normal West 56-33. The Purple Raiders blew the game open in the third quarter, outscoring the Wildcats 18-1.

Sophomore Ellie Weltha led BHS (1-2) with 17 points. Maya Walker had 12 points for Normal West.
