NORMAL – The postseason honors continue to roll in for Illinois State senior running back Marshaun Coprich, who was selected as one of 11 players for the 2015 Division I Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association (FCS ADA) All-America Team on Thursday.
The All-America nod is the third for Coprich, who previously earned First-Team All-America honors from STATS and the Associated Press.
The FCS ADA, in coordination with the 13 FCS conference offices, made the announcement of the award, which recognizes the top student-athletes from FCS institutions at 11 different positions. The 2015 class includes student-athletes from 10 different institutions, representing six different conferences. Voting was conducted by a national panel, consisting of media and sports information directors.
“On behalf of our association’s officers, executive committee and members, I would like to congratulate this year’s FCS ADA All-America award winners,” FCS ADA President Jeff Tingey, director of athletics at Idaho State University stated. “Each of these student-athletes accomplished great things both on and off the football field this season, and the FCS ADA is proud to recognize their achievements.”
Coprich, a finalist for the STATS FCS Offensive Player of the Year Award, followed up a historic junior campaign in 2014 with another stellar effort during his senior season in 2015. The two-time Missouri Valley Football Conference Offensive Player of the Year led the league in every rushing category and ranks No. 2 in the FCS in rushing yards (1,967) and rushing yards per game (151.3), and No. 3 in points per game (11.2). He helped Illinois State to a share of the MVFC title for a second-consecutive season and led the Redbirds to the quarterfinals of the FCS playoffs for the third time in the last four seasons.
The Victorville, California, native rushed for over 100 yards in 10 games in 2015 and had four games with over 200 yards rushing, including a stretch of three-straight 200-plus yard efforts from Nov. 14 to Dec. 5. He finished his illustrious career with 5,201 rushing yards, second most in MVFC history behind Zach Zenner of South Dakota State, and scored 60 career touchdowns.
From the 11 players selected, a national Offensive Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year will be announced at a later date and recognized at the National Championship Game in Frisco, Texas, on Jan. 9, during an on-field presentation.
