Seibring leads Titans to victory in Texas

SAN ANTONIO – Trevor Seibring scored 26 points to lead Illinois Wesleyan to a 85-77 win over Southwestern at the Trinity Holiday Basketball Tournament at Sams Gymnasium.

Illinois Wesleyan (5-4) led by as many as 14 early in the second half before the Pirates stormed back to tie the game at 64-64 with 8:52 to go. The Titans responded with an 8-2 surge fueled by a Siebring layup and a three-point play by Andy Stempel who finished with 11 points.

IWU hit 10 of 20 three-point baskets in the first half, but managed just one of 10 tries from deep in the second half.

Bryce Dolan finished with 15 points and Joel Pennington added 10. Alec Bausch had a team-high 12 rebounds and one point in the win.

The Titans will play No. 25 Texas Lutheran at 5 p.m. Saturday,
