Judith was brought into this world on July 22, 1941 at the Lincoln Hospital. She was the daughter of Russell Kenneth Leonard and Doris Caroline (Poppenga) Leonard. Judy married Larry Eugene Bellamy on Nov. 21, 1970. Larry and Judy had two sons, Larry Eugene Bellamy, II and Bradley Russell Bellamy. Bradley Russell Bellamy joined his grandparents in heaven on March 26, 2010. Larry Eugene Bellamy, II and Judy’s two sisters, Caroline Fehring and Virginia Greer survive. Her mother, Doris, went to heaven on Aug. 2, 1988 and her father, Russell, went to heaven on Nov. 29, 2001.

Judy grew up on the farm and enjoyed the out of doors. As a teenager she worked at the Lincoln Café as a waitress. She graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1960 and also attended Brown Business College in Springfield for two and a half years. She lived in Florida for five years working for the government. Judith then moved and worked in Springfield for several years before moving to Bloomington, where she met and married her husband. She worked for GTE (Verizon) for five years and relocated to Marion with her husband. She spent several years in Marion as a housewife and was active in the Seventh Day Adventist Church. The family relocated to Normal in 1985. Judy was a member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church in Normal and served in several positions within the church.

Judy enjoyed reading books, doing all sorts of puzzles, working in her precious flower beds, and enjoying family activities.

Judith was a loving, caring, and faithful wife to her husband and sons. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.

The family would like to express their thanks for the support Judy has received from the personnel at St. Mark Church, Advocate BroMenn, Heritage Healthcare and the services provided by OSF Home Health Care Services. She really enjoyed the friendship and support of her and Larry’s friends, especially Pam Goebel, Dave and Rita Houchin and Pastor Jenkins.

Is federal mobilization the answer?

By Mike Matejka As President Donald Trump threatens to send federal marshals into Chicago, over the objections of Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
