Illinois Wesleyan stunned by Millikin in final minute

BLOOMINGTON – Illinois Wesleyan stormed back from a 14-point second half deficit only to fall on a basket in the final minute, 61-59, to Millikin in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin game at Shirk Center.

Tommy Pilackas hit a jumper with 44 seconds left and the shot clock winding down to put the Big Blue on top and give the school its first CCIW win (1-9).

Wesleyan (11-10, 5-5 in CCIW) was outscored 19-5 in the final 5:53 of the first half after Austin Amann gave the Titans their final lead at 21-19.

Trevor Seibring scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half to lead the Titans from behind.

IWU had two chances to tie in the final minute. An inbounds pass slipped through Seibring’s hands with 7.7 seconds to go. After Bryn Agnew missed a free throw, Bryce Dolan missed a three-point try from the right wing as time expired.

T.J. Griffin led Millikin with 21 points. T.J. Sims of Bloomington added 13.

The Titans play at North Central on Saturday.
