BLOOMINGTON – OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington has found itself on Truven Health Analytics list of Top 50 U.S. hospitals for cardiovascular care.
“In healthcare circles, the Truven Analytics recognition is probably the brass ring,” said OSF President Chad Boore. “It is the absolute, probably, highest pinnacle that you could achieve in terms of a recognition of the quality of the care that you provide and the outcomes for the patients.”
Truven said winning hospitals had readmission rates more than 1 percent lower than other hospitals and inpatient survival rates as high as 33 percent better than non-winning facilities. Boore added the data Truven used was tracked between 2011 and 2014.
“We were very pleased,” said Boore. “And it’s not something that we trying for. You don’t apply for it. You don’t pay for it. Truven is constantly analyzing healthcare data and on an annual basis they give out these recognitions.”
Just four other Illinois hospitals were on Truven’s list.
