Redbirds play UNI, IWU celebrates Senior Night on WJBC Saturday

BLOOMINGTON – Illinois State and Illinois Wesleyan men’s basketball games dominate the WJBC 1230 AM airwaves today.

ISU looks to keep its hold on second place in the Missouri Valley Conference race when it plays at Northern Iowa in a 3 p.m. game. Pregame coverage begins at 2 p.m.

The Redbirds have won a season-high five and eight of their last nine for a 17-11 overall record and an 11-4 league mark. Northern Iowa is 8-7 in the conference and 16-12 overall.

Meanwhile, Illinois Wesleyan hopes to keep its hopes alive for a berth in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin postseason tournament in a 7 p.m. game at the Shirk Center against Elmhurst.

The Titans, playing in their final regular season game, are 6-7 in the conference and 12-12 overall. Elmhurst is 20-4 overall and 10-3 in the CCIW.

On your computer or smartphone at wjbc.com, the IWU women’s basketball team entertains Elmhurst at 5 o’clock. The Titans are tied for first in the CCIW with Wheaton at 10-3, while Elmhurst is 7-6. IWU is 15-9 overall and Elmhurst is 13-11.

Also on wjbc.com, the ISU softball team plays a pair of games in Tempe, Ariz., against Montana at 10 a.m. and Arizona State at 7 p.m.

The ISU baseball team plays Belmont in Nashville, Tenn. at noon and the Bloomington Thunder plays at Green Bay in hockey at 7 p.m.
