BLOOMINGTON – An eight-year Army veteran is running for Illinois’ U.S. Senate seat as a member of the Veterans’ Party.
Chris Aguayo, 31, said politicians have let veterans down and one of the first things he wants to do is pass his “No Veterans Left Behind” bill.
“It’s going to be a bill that’s going to take ideas that communities across the country have already started to use but putting some more refining touches on them,” Aguayo said. “Putting an end to veteran homelessness, putting an end to the suicide epidemic that Congress and the current administration just keeps ignoring.”
But first, Aguayo needs to get on the ballot. He’ll need 25,000 signatures before the end of June to put his name next to the Democrat and Republican candidates.
