BLOOMINGTON – U.S. Rep. Rodney Davis (R-Taylorville) cruised to victory Tuesday night in the Republican primary for Illinois’ 13th Congressional District.
Davis said in the time leading to the General election, he wants to continue focusing on reducing the nation’s deficits.
“Making sure we change the trajectory of how Washington spends money, and how we prioritize it, so we can pay down the debt for the next generation,” Davis said.
Davis faced a challenge from Ethan Vandersand. Davis said it’s “great to have competition.”
“Competition makes you stronger and I’ve got to give credit to my opponent, Mr. Vandersand,” said Davis. “Ethan ran a great race. He’s a very nice individual and I look forward to working with him to address many of the issue that we both care about.”
In November, Davis will go up against Mark Wicklund, who ran unopposed in the Democratic primary.
