SPRINGFIELD – A federal judge has ordered a former Illinois congressman to submit information as part of a grand jury investigation.
In a Feb. 12 ruling unsealed last week, U.S. District Judge Sue Myerscough ordered former Peoria U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock to provide documents pertaining to the Republican’s spending.
Judge Myerscough reviewed 72 documents and decided that Schock must submit 16 related to a campaign fundraising committee, limited liability company draft agreements related to Schock’s personal business dealings, and emails regarding travel and real estate investments in the days leading up to his March 2015 resignation. She allowed some documents to remain private; lawyers for Schock agreed to release others ahead of the judge’s ruling.
Schock came under pressure in February 2015 after accepting services free of charge from a designer who redid his offices in a manner inspired by the television show “Downton Abbey.”
Schock has been subpoenaed twice for campaign and congressional records.
