WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) met with Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland Wednesday.
Durbin walked away saying he’s more convinced that Garland is good fit for the nation’s high court and deserves a confirmation hearing before the Senate.
“I’ll do everything in my power to urge my colleagues to step forward and break ranks with Senator (Mitch) McConnell and to stand by the Constitution, stand by the precedent and history of the United States Senate, and give Merrick Garland his day.”
Garland previously met with U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.), who also said the Senate should hold hearings.
