SPRINGFIELD – An effort to get Illinois’ largest labor union and Gov. Bruce Rauner together on a new contract has spilled over to hearings at the Labor Relations Board.
Officials with the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees and the governors’ staff appeared Monday during a hearing on the impasse. An administrative law judge will now issue a decision on whether or not the two parties are really at a standstill.
If the judge decides in favor of Rauner he will then be free to dictate the terms of the next union contract to AFSCME members.
