Woman killed in 4-car crash on Interstate 55

PONTIAC – A 20-year-old woman from Plainfield was killed in a crash that involved four vehicles and prompted the closure of Interstate 55 at Pontiac for about four hours on Thursday afternoon.

The Livingston County Coroner’s office identifies the victim as Ashley Borja.

Police say the driver of a southbound Honda Accord crossed the median and into northbound traffic for an unknown reason and collided with a northbound minivan. That led to a chain reaction crash in two which others were hospitalized.

No tickets were issued.
