Margaret L. Rutledge, 87, of Normal, died at 9:00 a.m. on May 12 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
Her memorial service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at First Church of the Nazarene in Bloomington. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.
Inurnment will be at Chenoa Cemetery in Chenoa following a luncheon at the church. Memorials may be given to the family.
Margaret was born in Chenoa on June 24, 1928, a daughter to Jacob and Katharina M. Carstens Engel.
She worked in the office for Admiral Corporation for over 20 years and retired in 1986. Previous employment was at Montgomery Wards and Model Paris. She also sat with hospital patients overnights so families could get rest.
Survivors include her sons, Daniel (Connie DaLanater) Rutledge, Utah, David Rutledge, Normal; daughter, Mary (David) Tosh, Normal; grandchildren, Jennifer Rutledge, Texas, Nicholas Tosh, Normal, Ashleigh Rutledge, Bloomington, Nathan Tosh, Bloomington, Katharina Tosh, Normal; great-grandchildren, Noah and Mason Tosh, both of Bloomington; and two brothers, Charles (Juanita) Engel, Hudson, John (Marlene) Engel, Kappa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Marie Broniszewski, and Dorothy Lock.
Margaret was a long time member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bloomington. She also enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and embroidery work. She loved watching birds, especially cardinals. She loved collecting flowers and plants and enjoyed cuddling with cats. She enjoyed weekly lunches with her retired co-workers, and Margaret especially loved time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; all of whom she had helped to raise.
