Jayne “Muffy” Delforge, 92, of Bloomington passed away May 15, peacefully at Heritage Health, Bloomington.

Her celebration of life service will be on June 5, starting at 3 p.m., at the Unitarian Church, Bloomington.

Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington is in charge of arrangements.

Jayne was born June 14, 1923, daughter of Charles and Bessie Mitchell. Jayne spent her youth in Panama where she became fluent in Spanish and was an accomplished acrobat. Jayne & her acrobatic team had the honor of performing for President Roosevelt. She married Adrian Delforge Jr. on Feb. 12, 1946.

He passed March 28, 1983. Also preceding her were her brothers, Bill and Charles and sister Wanda Davis.

Surviving are her two sons, Thomas (Mary Munson), Normal; Adrian (Beth), Rockport, Mass; and her daughter, Louise (Greg) Darnall, Bloomington. She has five grandchildren; Heather (Dave) Stiles, James (Stacie) Darnall, Sarah

(Brad) Jameson, Jessica (Matt) Rose, Rocky Delforge; four step grandchildren, Molly and Peggy Munson, Shauna Bear and Desiree Roberts; five great grandchildren and four step great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister-in-laws, Daisy Mitchell, St. Augustine, Fla. and Juanita Ware, Sugarland, Texas along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Jayne and her husband were the founders of Turn of the Century Restaurant and Adrian’s Shoes & Repair and later a house mother for the Delta Zeta Sorority.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, art, swimming, travel and shopping. Jayne was a fantastic harmonica player, a connoisseur of ice cream and was always the life of the party. She was well-known for her sense of humor and her spirit was infectious. Jayne was a very social person, always on the go, and constantly wanting to help family and friends. If you knew Jayne, you were her friend for life. She was a member of the Unitarian Church of Bloomington for over 50 years.

She will be deeply missed by those who loved her and all whose lives she touched. Sincere thanks to the staff of Heritage Health for their love and care in Jayne’s final years.
