Harriette Pearson

Harriette Pearson, 79, of Bloomington passed away at 12:24 p.m. on May 21 at Heritage Health Care in Normal.

Her funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. noon on Saturday at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Bloomington with Rev. Frank L. McSwain Sr. officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Kibler-Brady-Ruestman Memorial Home in Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements.

Interment will be at Park Hill Cemetery in Bloomington. Memorials may be made to Mt. Pisgah Christian Education.

Harriette was born on June 27, 1936 in Chicago, a daughter to Louis A. and Carrie Garrison. She married Simeon Miller June 5, 1955 and James Pearson on July 15, 1972 in Bloomington. James preceded her in death on October 6, 2013.

Surviving are her children, Gary Williams of St. Louis, Jeff (Julie) Miller of Normal and Sherrie Miller of Bloomington; step-children, Jay, Kelly (Ernest) and Allen; grandchildren, Derrick, Courtney, Jeremy (Kirsten), Shannon (Monteria), Marcus, Joseph, Olivia, Nathaniel, Sierra, Nevaeh, Allen Jr, Brianne, Nikia, Jamara, Caleb, Christiaan and Deven; great grandchildren, Kyra, Jadia, Tyson and Jordon; and a brother, Lewis E. (Theresa) Garrison of Bloomington.

She was preceded in death by two adopted sons, Emmit and Ted Sorrell; one brother, Art Garrison and one sister, Mary Washington.

Harriette worked in airline reservations for many years at TWA, Ozark and American Airlines. She owned Harriette’s Beauty Salon and The Bath Shop, both in Bloomington.

She enjoyed her grandchildren and traveling. Her biggest love was her church, Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, where she was a member and taught Christian education.
