BLOOMINGTON – More than a dozen local student athletes and several state championship teams will be among the honorees at the upcoming State Farm Student Athlete Recognition Banquet.

The finalists for Female Athlete of the Year are Shelby Fulk of El Paso-Gridley, Sydney Shanks of Central Catholic and Kylie Welch of Bloomington and the finalists for Male Athlete of the Year are Matt Chastain from LeRoy and two from Normal West – Mitch Fairfield and Andrew Loy.

The finalists for team of the year are Central Catholic and Normal Community volleyball and Normal West softball for the girls. The top boys teams are Tri-Valley and LeRoy football and LeRoy basketball.

The winners will be announced at a banquet set for June 21 at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn in Bloomington. The keynote speaker will be former University High and Texas A&M soccer standout, Ashlee Pistorius-Slayback.
