Owens resigns from McLean County Board

BLOOMINGTON – A longtime McLean County Board member is resigning.

Republican Benjamin Owens who has been on the board since 2000 turned in a letter of resignation during the board’s Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday. Owens lost in the GOP primary in March to Josh Barnett in a bid to retain his seat.

Owens, the chairman of the finance committee, has served District 10 which covers the east side of Bloomington. The resignation takes effect on June 30.

Owens becomes the fourth McLean County Board member to resign since last fall.
