Former Illinois congressional candidate Flynn dies

QUINCY – A conservative blogger who ran for Congress in Central Illinois last year has died.

Mike Flynn of Quincy was an editor at Breitbart News and had served as editor-in-chief of Breitbart’s website Big Government.

He lost to Darin LaHood in the GOP primary in the Illinois 18th Congressional District in July 2015. LaHood went on to win election to the seat Aaron Schock held before his resignation.

There’s no information about a possible cause of death.

“(Flynn) lived his life to advance the cause of liberty,” Breitbart Executive Chairman Stephen Bannon said in a statement.
