BLOOMINGTON – Home Sweet Home Ministries is launching its Partner in Hope campaign.

CEO Mary Ann Pullin said the goal is to find 99 partners in hope to mark the shelter’s 99 years of serving the community.

“There are 99 people out there who I’m sure would be willing to contribute to us on a monthly basis to make sure your services continue,” Pullin said.

The funding pays for food, housing and various services for its clients. Pullin says monthly donors are vital to give the agency a foundation of support that it can count on each month.

“They just provides a really solid foundation for our support, so we know we can count on that,” Pullin said. “We know we have a certain amount coming in every month.”

Donations can be made online at www.hshministries.org. They can also be made by electronic transfer, by calling (309) 828-7356 or by dropping them off at the shelter at 303 E. Oakland Ave.

Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
