NORMAL – The Normal CornBelters have been awarded their fourth weekly award of the season with the naming of Charlie Gillies as Frontier League Pitcher of the Week.

In his second start for the Belters on Wednesday, Gillies hurled a complete game one-hitter in a 3-0 win over the Gateway Grizzlies, walking three and striking out seven. The 25-year-old native of Valencia, California is in his fifth professional season and spent his first three campaigns in the Tigers organization mostly at the A level after being drafted in the 10th round of the 2012 Major League Baseball Amateur Draft out of The Master’s College in Santa Clarita, California.

The CornBelters resume play after the Frontier League All-Star break with a weekend series in Crestwood, Ill. against the Windy City ThunderBolts beginning Friday evening.
