State Police asked to look at allegations against former Heyworth police chief

HEYWORTH – Illinois State Police have been asked to investigate allegations of misconduct against Heyworth’s former police chief.

The Village Board voted earlier this year to fire Chris Lane. Allegations being made against Lane include theft, dishonesty and incompetence – all relating to the nine years he spent as chief.

The allegations were shown in court documents from a wrongful termination lawsuit filed by Lane. Heyworth City Administrator Geoff Dodds on Friday declined to make further comment.
