NORMAL – After a late goal in the second half, Illinois State soccer team fell to Marquette, 2-1, Thursday night at Adelaide Street Field. With the loss, the Redbirds fall to 0-3 on the season, while the Golden Eagles improve to 1-2-0 overall.
Marquette scored both of its goals off corner kicks. The deciding goal came late in 77th minute off a corner kick taken by Cali Pyzdrowski, as it connected with Darian Powell.
In the first half, Marquette’s Emily Hess glided a ball just over the fingertips of Haley Smith to pick up Golden Eagle’s first goal. The Redbirds answered back minutes later off a free kick from 35-yards out. Unfortunately, there was confusion with the referees, and ISU’s goal was taken away.
