MCCA announces LIHEAP and PIPP Programs

BLOOMINGTON – Starting Sep. 1 and going through May 31 of next year, Mid Central Community Action will be accepting applications for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program.

To qualify for the program, households must have incomes equal to or less than 150 percent of the poverty level. September’s eligibility includes households with a member over the age of 60 and households that have a member receiving social security benefits or veteran’s benefits.
October’s eligibility includes households with a family member under the age of six and households that have been disconnected from one or both utilities.
In November the enrollment will be open for all households who meet the income requirements.
Payment amounts will be base don household size and 30-day income.

The Percentage of Income Payment Plan will also be offered starting September 1. The program assists households in paying their utility bills. It will be offered to Ameren, ComEd, Nicor Gas and Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas customers. It will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis, until funding is exhausted.
