Rauner donates $100,000 to Indiana gubernatorial candidate

SPRINGFIELD – Gov. Bruce Rauner is donating campaign money to a candidate for governor in Indiana.

Rauner made a personal donation of $100,000 to Indiana Lt. Gov. Eric Holcomb’s campaign for governor. Rauner has donated millions of dollars to Illinois races and said he plans to donate to other Republican gubernatorial candidates as well.

Rauner said former Indiana Gov. Mitch Daniels, for whom Holcomb was a staffer, showed that pro-business reforms can reinvigorate a state like Indiana.

“I believe in good management and good leadership,” Rauner said. “Frankly, when the Midwest does well, Illinois does well. Indiana is growing their economy. They’re growing their manufacturing base. (Holcomb) was a senior manager during Mitch Daniels’ administration. Daniels, in my opinion, was the best governor in America during his eight-year term when he turned Indiana around.”

Holcomb was selected to face Democrat John Gregg in the fall election after incumbent Mike Pence was tapped by Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump to be his running mate.
