NORMAL – Illinois State’s Hancock Stadium is the site for the St. Jude Walk and Run on Saturday.
It’s a fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis and its Midwest affiliate in Peoria. It helps pay for treatment for eight-year-old son Cael Wolfe whose father Brian Wolfe said he couldn’t imagine what he would do without St. Jude covering the entire cost for treatment.
The Wolfe family won’t be able to attend as Cael goes to Memphis for testing this weekend.
“We did the walk last year and it was a really neat experience,” Wolfe said.
Cael has six more months of treatment left for ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) which he was diagnosed with in July 2014 when he was six. Cale told WJBC’s Scott Laughlin he actually doesn’t mind going to Memphis for treatment.
“Since I was there so long I got comfortable in that area,” Cael said. “I like going down there and I know all the nurses.”
The walk begins at 10 a.m. Same day registration is available on site at 8 a.m. More registration information is available under the Events tab at WJBC.com.
