Normal Community and Central Catholic high schools were the only Intercity schools to post football victories Friday night.
NCHS 68, Richwoods 28
The Ironmen jumped to a 27-0 lead after one quarter to roll to their fourth win overall and in the Big 12 Conference in five games.
NCHS jumped to a 14-0 lead in the first minute after two Richwoods’ fumbles. The Ironmen led 33-28 at halftime before outscoring the Knights, 35-0, in the second half.
Quarterback Grant Price three for three touchdowns and ran for two as the Ironmen had nearly 500 yards in total offense, including 300 yards rushing.
Price completed 16 of 22 passes for 191 yards, while Vashaun Dixon had 172 yards and two touchdowns on 16 carries. Brandon Lay had seven receptions for 65 yards and one touchdown, while Dakota Cremeens had a 77-yard touchdown punt return.
Central 22, Pontiac 15
Andrew Einck intercepted a pass in the end zone line with 26 seconds remaining to preserve Central’s fourth win in five games. The Saints are 2-1 in the confeference.
Central led 9-0 after three quarters on a 21-yard field goal by Max Moews and a 3-yard run by Sa’mond Davis. Pontiac took a 15-9 lead in with 9:30 left in the game on a 4-yard run by Levi Ransom and a 26-yard run by Kevin Gschwendtner and a 2-point conversion run by by Ransom.
The Saints tied the game with 4:16 left on a 40-yard pass from Moews to JP Sikora and won the game on a 10-yard TD run by Davis with 44 seconds to go.
Davis finished with 139 yards on 19 carries.
Peoria 68, BHS 34
The No. 1 state-ranked Lions in Class 5A remained undefeated and dropped the Purple Raiders to 2-3 overall and 2-2 in the Big 12 Conference.
The Lions led 21-0 after the first quarter and never looked back as quarterback Coran Taylor rushed for 263 yards and one touchdown while throwing for one touchdown.
Jaleen Jones had 142 yards rushing and three touchdowns while Geno Hess added 111 yards rushing and three scores.
BHS’ quarterback Colton Sandage completed 19 of 40 passes for 299 yards and four touchdowns. Avery Lyons caught seven passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns.
Danville 45, Normal West 14
The Wildcats fell to 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the Big 12 as Danville remained undefeated.
Genesis Forest rushed for 127 yards on 17 carries while C.J. Lewis completed 8 of 12 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns. West had touchdowns in the fourth quarter from Malik Taylor on a 5-yard pass and a 39-yard pass to Magnus Moeller.
Prairie Central 24, U High 7
The Pioneers dropped to 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the Corn Belt Conference as Prairie Central won its first conference game in three starts.
Ethan Kinkade gave the Hawks’ a 7-0 lead on a 58-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Billy Printz added a 3-yard TD run with 26 seconds left in the first half.
U High scored its lone touchdown on a 54-yard pass from Doug Holmes to Mark Widdel.
