Deborah Anglin

Deborah L. Anglin, 56, of Strawn, passed away at 7:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 14, 2016 at her residence in Strawn.

Cremation rites have been accorded and a celebration of Deb’s life will be at 4 p.m., Friday, Oct. 21, 2016 at the Strawn Park Pavilion. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the family of Deb Anglin. Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury is assisting the family with arrangements.

Deb was born Nov. 29, 1959 in Watseka, Ill.; the daughter of Roger and Lulabelle (Sapp) Durflinger. She married Scotty Anglin Sr. He died Sept. 14, 2013. Her parents, 2 brothers and 1 sister also preceded her in death.

Survivors include two sons Jacob (Kara Wilson) Anglin of Gibson City; Nick Anglin of Strawn; her new grandson, Kent Anglin of Gibson City; two brothers, David Durflinger of Montana; and Roscoe Durflinger of Kentland, Ind.

Deb worked as a CNA; giving care to many families loved ones in the area. She was a woman who was unselfish and hardworking; always putting her family that she loved dearly before her own needs. “Little but mighty” would describe her spirit; with a heart as loving as could be. Her strength and determination will be missed by so many that knew and loved her.

Wayne Meece

Wayne L. Meece, 82, of Normal, passed away on Oct. 16, 2016 at 12:05 am at Heartland Healthcare Center in Normal, Ill.

His funeral will be held on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at Eastview Christian Church, Normal with Pastor Mike Baker Officiating. Following the service burial will take place at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington with military honors conducted by the Bloomington/Normal American Legion Honor Guard. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. at Eastview.

Memorials may be made to Eastview Christian Church or to the Illinois State University Athletic Program.

Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, Ill. is in charge of arrangements.

Wayne was born Sept. 23, 1934, in Monticello, Ill., the son of James Elmer and Anna Willis Meece. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1957 in the 82nd Airborne. Once he was out of the service, he attended Illinois State Normal University where he was an All-American quarterback.

Wayne married Loretta J. Powell on Oct. 23, 1964 in Bloomington.

Wayne is survived by his wife Loretta, and their children Randy Clarke, Chandler, Ariz., Scot (Shannon) Meece, Bloomington and Beth (Michael) Beauford, Bloomington. Grandchildren Reed (Chanell) Clarke, Jordan Clarke, Lindsay (Paul) Craddock, Brock Meece, Blaise Beauford and Lacey Beauford. He also had 4 great-grandchildren, Ella and Beckett Craddock and Story and Rush Clarke.

Wayne was a general manager in the moving industry for many years. His true passion was officiating football where he was a head linesman for 20 years in the Big 10. He was honored to officiate 5 bowl games; 2 Rose Bowls in 1986 and 1990, the Tangerine Bowl in 1978, the Liberty Bowl in 1983 and the Peach Bowl in 1991. He also officiated High School Basketball where he worked in the State Tournament Series on 3 different occasions. He had a strong desire to mentor young officials in the profession. He was a member of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame, he was elected in to the Illinois State University Hall of Fame in 1974 and he was a 1960 Graduate of Illinois State University. He also was an observer for ISU for 25 years for basketball and football. In October 2010, he received the Stretch Miller Award from ISU.

Wayne was a member of Eastview Christian Church where he sang in the choir and was the lead usher for over 25 years. He loved Sunday mornings and made every effort to be there even when it was difficult due to his health.
