NORMAL – Retired Illinois State University politics and government professor Bob Bradley said Democrats – and even Republicans – who have criticized FBI director James Comey have good reason.

Bradley told WJBC’s Scott Laughlin Comey never should have announced the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails was reopening without yet getting a warrant.

“Almost any prosecutor who is worth their salt would not have done that, because it runs the risk of violating fair trial, it runs the risk of tainting the jury pool,” Bradley said. “It does all kinds of things that would not be good for your case as a prosecutor.”

Bradley said the backlash could end up helping Hillary Clinton by motivating her supporters who might have thought her victory in the presidential race was already a foregone conclusion.

“That basically means you are reducing that complacency, that the Clinton forces might have had a week ago to say ‘Boy, you’ve got to get out and vote,” Bradley said.

Bradley predicts Clinton will end up defeating Donald Trump and Democratic U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth will unseat Republican U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk.

Labor Day – Expanding voting rights for all

Pritzker, recall another Illinois Governor who protested the incursion of armed federal personnel into the city.   Those federal troops, rather than calming, escalated the situation, leading to deaths and violence. Illinois poet Vachel Lindsay…

In these troubled times, to my fellow white Americans

By Mike Matejka Our nation is at a unique watershed in human relations. African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
