BLOOMINGTON – Republicans gained a seat on the McLean County Board after one incumbent fell and two others retained their seats Tuesday night.
In District 7, Republican Jacob Beard defeated incumbent Democrat Victoria Harris. Beard said there is a lot of work to do as he joins the board.
“In many ways it’s continuing some of the work that Victoria started,” said Beard. “So with the mental health action plan and the expansion of the jail and really making sure that we do those well.”
Republican David Selzer kept his seat in District 5 after fending off a challenge from Democrat Kimberly Pfiefer. Selzer said he’s excited about the future of the County Board.
“Life is good in McLean County and the people in McLean County will know that their dollars are being taken care of,” Selzer said.
Republican George Wendt was also able to fight off a challenge and retain his seat after beating Jessielee Hinshaw in Distrct 3.
