NORMAL – The Heartland Community College board has approved a tax levy that would increase the tax bill for the owner of a $165,000 home by about $25.
The overall tax rate rises just under five cents to nearly 59 cents per $100 assessed valuation. The Heartland board approved the tentative levy during Tuesday night’s meeting.
The total levy is $26.2 million, just under 12 percent more than the total property tax extension for 2015.
Final adoption of the levy is expected at the board meeting on December 13.
