Bloomington man taken into custody following second gunfire incident

BLOOMINGTON – Police said a 20-year-old Bloomington man has been taken into custody following a second report of gunfire in as many nights on the city’s west side.

Police arrested Preston Alexander on charges not related to the shots, including manufacture and delivery of cannabis and possession of a firearm without a firearms ID. As a result of the arrest, police used a search warrant to seize a handgun, rifle, ammunition and marijuana.

The police said they haven’t determine if there’s a connection between multiple gunshots being reported last night in the area of Locust and Mason streets about 6:30 Wednesday and gunshots late Tuesday in the 600 block of west Locust.

No one was injured in either incident.

In the Wednesday incident, a house and fence were damaged by gunfire. A vehicle was hit by a bullet in the Tuesday incident.
