Titans roll past No. 8 Ohio Wesleyan

DELEWARE, Ohio – Illinois Wesleyan sophomore Nick Coleman joked before the game the Titans were going to dedicate Saturday’s game to coach Ron Rose, who was a senior when the Titans lost to the eventual champion Ohio Wesleyan in the Elite 8 in 1988.

It was the coach’s son, Brady, who helped the Titans avenge that loss with a career high 20 points to lead IWU to a decisive 88-70 win over the No, 8-ranked Battling Bishops in a non-conference game at Branch Rickey Arena.

Andy Stempel led with Titans with 21 points. His four first-half three pointers helped IWU race out to a lead that swelled to 42-25 by halftime.

The Titans (5-0) grew the lead to as many as 33 late in the second half.

IWU connected on 12-24 three-point tries and shot 58 percent from the field in both halves.

Trevor Seibring added 14 points and Alex Bausch posted 12 points and a team high 8 rebounds.

The Titans play their College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin opener at North Central. at Dec. 3.
