BLOOMINGTON – Central Illinois Regional Airport has been given a perfect score in its latest federal safety inspection.

The FAA inspection this week included a physical check of the airfield facilities and a detailed review of records, documentation, and procedures. Some of the specific areas of the inspection include airport emergency response capability, airfield maintenance and inspection programs, wildlife management practices, snow and ice control procedures, aircraft fueling procedures and personnel training programs.

“Safety and compliance with FAA requirements for the operation of the airport are our highest priority.” said David Colee, Chairman of the Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority. “We have set a high standard for maintaining and operating CIRA and we are appreciative of the FAA’s recognition and acknowledgement of the airport’s commitment.”

CIRA officials say this was the airport’s sixth perfect inspection since 2010.

I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
