BLOOMINGTON – MC Sports is filing for bankruptcy and liquidating all assets, meaning the closure of its 68 existing stores, including the one located inside Eastland Mall.
Officials with the mall said Tuesday they were unsure of the store’s future, but a press release from MC Sports stated the company will be starting liquidation sales at all stores.
The Michigan based company said Tuesday it’s been facing increased competition, not unlike many sports retailers. MC Sports President and CEO Bruce Ullery said in a statement the only way for the company to address its “immediate liquidity issues” is to commence liquidation sales at its stores.
