BLOOMINGTON – Illinois Wesleyan’s postseason hopes were dealt a seemingly blow in an 82-80 overtime loss to North Central in a College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin game at Shirk Center.

PODCAST: Listen to the postgame interview with IWU assistant coach Andy Etheridge on WJBC.

The Titans fall to 16-8, 8-7 in the CCIW, meaning the best the Titans could do is force a tie for fourth place in the league with a win vs. league leader Augustana on Tuesday.

Andy Stempel led the Titans with 23 points. Colin Bonnett added 22 in the loss.

Alex Sorensen drilled six three-point baskets on his way to a game-high 27 points for the Cardinals, who kept their postseason hopes alive with a win. He hit the three-pointer which put NCC on top for good, 78-76, with 1:10 to go in the extra period,

Bonnett forced the OT with a three-point play with seven seconds left in regulation.

IWU women

The Titan women fall out of a tie for first in the CCIW with an 89-86 loss to North Central.

Maddie Merritt scored 22 points in the loss, while Rebekah Ehresman added 16 points and a team-high 14 rebounds.

IWU (17-7, 12-3) will close out the regular season Tuesday at Wheaton. The winner will claim the top seed and home court in the CCIW Tournament next weekend.

African-Americans have been killed too many times in the past before George Floyd, but the response to this man’s death is international and all-encompassing. I was a grade-schooler during the Civil Rights 1960s. I watched Birmingham demonstrators hosed and the Selma – Montgomery…

Workers’ Memorial Day – Remember those whose job took their life

Looking around our community, when we say employer, most will respond to State Farm, Country, or Illinois State University.   We too often forget those who are building our roads, serving our food, or our public employees. COVID-19 has made us more aware of the risk.  Going to work every day for some people means…
