BLOOMINGTON – J.C. Penney plans to close up to 140 stores in the next several months, leaving the status of the location at Eastland Mall up in the air.
The company said the closures are an effort to improve profitability in the era of online shopping.
The company does not plan to release the list of stores its closing until next month. A message has been left with Eastland Mall seeking comment on the status of the mall’s store.
